A massive canvas mural of the local sea creatures.The South Australian Whale Centre showcases a number of unique artworks including several murals created by local artists. "Under the Sea"
This mural is a one of a kind depiction of the local marine life, located off the shore of Victor Harbor. Designed and painted by local artist James Stewart, this massive piece of art is the largest stretch canvas mural in the southern hemisphere.
Life sized floor panting of Sothern Right mother and calf.Measuring approximately 16 metres in length, this life size whale mural painted by local artist Barbary O'Brien allows visitors to the Centre the opportunity to visualise the size of these ocean giants. Capturing the nurturing nature of the Southern Right Whale, 'Mum and Bub" lie closely together as they would in our local oceans. "Cetacean Nation"
3D mural depicting all many common species of Cetaceans.This 3D fibreglass sculptured mural represents twenty five species of cetaceans (the scientific order for whales, dolphins and porpoises). Located within the cellar of the South Australian Whale Centre, walking alongside this mural allows visitors to feel as though they are swimming amongst these fascinating creatures.
Dolphin Skeleton at the SAWC.The South Australian Whale Centre has a number of Cetacean skeletons on display. Some of the skeletons are a complete, others are segments; collected from the local region or on loan from the SA Museum.
Visitors to the centre have the opportunity to touch, measure and explore a range of vertebrae from different species of Whales.
The centre also features an "Archaeologist's Dig" where children and adults alike can explore the remains of Australia's in land sea, using their "Dig Kits" to uncover fossils.
